The year started with the continuing preparations for the annual Foundation Walk, to be held in Richmond Hill on September 11th.. The walk included a guided tour of the Central Library, a tour of a working model of the waterfall designed for the World Trade Centre Memorial to be built in New York, the Millennium Garden on Mill Street ( partly funded by the Club) and many other points of historical and general interst. The Walk was well attended by over 350 Rotarians from 47 of the 56 clubs in District 7070. The Walk raised $113,283 for the Rotary Foundation, $21,789 coming from the Campbellford Club, which meant they won the honour of hosting the 2006 event. Richmond Hill had set itself a target of $2,700 which was handily exceeded by an added $2,074 surplus on the costs of organizing the Walk which resulted in a total of $7,648 for Foundation from the Club.

On December 2nd. came the sad news of the death of Past President Brenda Cairns from cancer. It was decided to dedicate some of the proceeds from the International Night to be held on June 2nd. to cancer research.

The results of the December TV Auction were published in the January 9th. edition of the Bulletin and showed a grand total of $103,000 raised for the participating charities.

The Club also sent local High School students to Camp Enterprise and hosted an Exchange Student from Denmark, Emil Jacobsen. He returned home early, for personal reasons, and the Club decided not to continue in this program until we were able to find new host families.
