The Rotary Club of Richmond Hill is a proud sponsor of the Guatemala Literacy Project (Cooperative for Education). Last year, our club donated $1,000.
The Guatemala Literacy Project (GLP) is one of the largest grassroots, multi-club, multi-district projects in Rotary. More than 900 Rotary clubs and 90 districts have been working together since 1997 to improve education for underserved students in Guatemala. In that time, more than 312,000 students have been served through four sustainable programs that are tested and proven to work.
At our most recent club Zoom meeting, we were joined by Emily Swisher of the Guatemala Literacy Project for an update. Thank you Emily for a terrific presentation!
Our club member, Donita Hagborg personally supports three other Guatemalan students. In the photos below, we see Donita as she travelled to Guatemala to met her students.
