35 years ago, Terry Fox started his courageous run across Canada, “The Marathon of Hope” to raise funds for Cancer Research.  As many of you know, he was felled by cancer before he could complete his run.  But his memory lives on with the annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. 
 
For the 34th consecutive year, you will be able to participate in the 5km Terry Fox Run in Richmond Hill at Mill Pond Park, at the corner of Mill Street and Wood Lane.  The run will be held Sunday, September 20th from 8am to 2pm.  Most people do NOT run, but walk the route.
 
Over the 34 years of its existence, Richmond Hill has raised $600,000 through the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research.  Worldwide, we have raised $1 billion!
Just last week, Richmond Hill created a permanent Terry Fox Tribute at Ransom Park in Richmond Hill.  Some photos are below.
